If the game can't take advantage of SLI, then the other card can go idle because it isn't doing anything. My Turing card (2060S) idles on the desktop at 300MHz on the core and 405MHz on the VRAM, so those clock speeds are normal for a card that isn't doing much.

I was just overclocking my cpu from 3.4 to 4.6 for my strategy games when I realised one of my GPUS was at 405hz while the other was pushing massively higher than that. both GPUS have been linked don't know if that matters.

At current GPU prices you'd probably be better of selling the second GPU if this was only bought for SLI.

Not aware of any modern games that support SLI, its a dead technology as it was never very efficient.

and ye I might try get both gone and upgrade to a 3090 when they become more available then.

Well better make sure you have a way to get the 3090 soon, because 2080Ti depreciation pre 3070 release pretty much gonna continue when 3000 series finally gets back in shelves as normal.

Game just isnt optimized. Plenty of ways around that or games that do support it. So prolly nothing wrong. Still better have more cards though.

Alright thank you both,

was sat on desktop when i seen it so that would explain it and ye I might try get both gone and upgrade to a 3090 when they become more available then.

I'd say get rid of 1 already right now as prices are stupid high right now and you'll get more than new price for it. It's not like it will ever do anything since sli has been officially dead since january 2020 (and barely even used beforehand)
