Hi,

Last night, after 2 months i came back home, installing my pc to my desk and everything was fine, but after 5 hours, the screen went black, with the monitor showing no signal.

I unplugged the pc, got the ram out, test each one, nothing. The keyboard and the mouse had the lights on and i didn t hear any weird noise from the pc.

Then i changed the gpu slot. I had image for 2 seconds, then it blacked out again.

i got the cpu out, put new paste on it as well.

this morning, before i went to the pc service, i turned it on one more time and the pc was working. Buuuut, after 2 minutes, it blacked out again.

What could be the problem?

thx

Strange, what PSU do you have??? Make, model, wattage (age-how long have you been using it)? Did you check over all power connections? Clear CMOS?

Its a cooler master 750 gold. I keep thinking that the power supply is the problem.

the guy said that the gpu is the problem bcs its overheating, but ive watched the temps and they were 30 or so. Can the temps jump from 30 to 100 in a second?

the guy from the pc service told me my pc was working with a low tier gpu. I saw it, it was a small one that didn t need too much power.

also, because the first time my pc restarted by itself, and now it doesn t. Its just gets black screened.

If there was no cooler or lack of cooling on the card, under load, sure it can. At that point, the card would thermal throttle and possibly shut down.

Changing out the power supply is one of the first steps I would take in trying to solve this random restarts. If that doesn't work, then I suspect possibly the motherboard is bad.

I don t know if the mobo is bad, but the thing is: pc stays on, right? Gpu stays on, lights and all, so if the gpu would get hot, woulnd it fans should start spinning? Cuz i turned on the fans manually full speed, watched the temps and nothing suggest that you can go from 30 or 40 to 10000 degrees in a split second.
If the gpu stays on, its fans should start spinning after 60 degrees.

Yes, the fan curves that the GPU comes with should automatically start the fans spinning and increase RPM as temperature increases. Sometimes, fan control software such as MSI Afterburner will affect these fan curves and if other fan control programs are installed, they can interfere with each other.

Again, refer to my previous comments on that but that is not the case here.

Yes. Most graphics cards nowadays have a zero RPM mode that will only turn the fans on until the GPU reaches 60oC.

I feel, the PSU is at fault here given your symptoms. I'd test by replacing the PSU with a new one (be sure do replace all power cables if modular, as the pinout side between cable and PSU differ from manufacturer to manufacturer).

I just bought a new one but i have to wait till tomorrow. UK sucks. I have to wait for everything, they don t have anything in stores.
i bought an adx w850 modulat atx. If the psu is the problem, this one will do. Maybe with a 750 it was a bit under powered given that 6800xt is a hungry one

Most likely the motherboard is the issue then. You'll have to RMA the motherboard.

Yea, and now i have another problem.

I just sent over the gpu to the shop I bought it from. Guess what? The warranty label has been pierced by a screwdriver. The screwdriver was not mine. Either one of the pc services i took my pc to did this shit, or even the guys from the shop I bought the gpu from did. Or it was like this when i received it, as the shop i bought it from is something like a local store.

What do i do? I have 2 options. Get the gpu back, buy a warranty label and stick it myself or do i take the gpu to a service so it can be repaired?

For the first option, i either wait 2 months till i get my warranty labels from alibaba or i go to a sticker print shop and create one myself.

For the second option, what if the gpu cannot be repaired? What if and what if cuz right now im mad af.

And yes, im 100% is the gpu as i have another gpu for the moment and it works perfectly fine.

Or, another option is that I send the gpu to amd directly (i am talking via email with them right now), either tell them the warranty sticker (which is a plastic cover the size of a nail) is pierced or i don t tell them anything and hope for the best?

What the hell do I do? :(((

Well, you live in the US, right??

Warranty Void if Removed stickers are not enforceable by law as it violates the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Under this, you can read more: § 700.10 Prohibited tying.

Quote

No warrantor may condition the continued validity of a warranty on the use of only authorized repair service and/or authorized replacement parts for non-warranty service and maintenance (other than an article of service provided without charge under the warranty or unless the warrantor has obtained a waiver pursuant to section 102(c) of the Act, 15 U.S.C. 2302(c)). For example, provisions such as, “This warranty is void if service is performed by anyone other than an authorized `ABC' dealer and all replacement parts must be genuine `ABC' parts,” and the like, are prohibited where the service or parts are not covered by the warranty. These provisions violate the Act in two ways. First, they violate the section 102(c), 15 U.S.C. 2302(c), ban against tying arrangements. Second, such provisions are deceptive under section 110 of the Act, 15 U.S.C. 2310, because a warrantor cannot, as a matter of law, avoid liability under a written warranty where a defect is unrelated to the use by a consumer of “unauthorized” articles or service. In addition, warranty language that implies to a consumer acting reasonably in the circumstances that warranty coverage requires the consumer's purchase of an article or service identified by brand, trade or corporate name is similarly deceptive. For example, a provision in the warranty such as, “use only an authorized `ABC' dealer” or “use only `ABC' replacement parts,” is prohibited where the service or parts are not provided free of charge pursuant to the warranty. This does not preclude a warrantor from expressly excluding liability for defects or damage caused by “unauthorized” articles or service; nor does it preclude the warrantor from denying liability where the warrantor can demonstrate that the defect or damage was so caused.

I just sent another email to AMD with the details they asked (photo of the gpu, copy of the receipt) and I did not mention the warranty label that is pierced.

I will wait for their response and in the meantime I will wait to get my gpu back from that stupid shop.

Thx for telling me about that law. I read something about it and is kinda the same thing in uk, but I ll see. Thanks again bro
