I have TF2 downloaded on my main rig, and I want to put it on my grandma's HP. But, her internet would take at least a day to download it. Can I copy the files from my desktop and put them on her computer, or not? And where can I find/put TF2 if I can?

Yes, you can copy it to the steamapps folder

 

then when you run TF2 from steam, instead of downloading it, it will just verify the files are all there

Okay. I'm assuming this would be like C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps?

Copy them from steam/steamApps/common into the same location on grandmas (have to have steam installed) then start the installation in steam and it will discover existing files and then it should work.

Yep, same place they came from steam will check that folder first before starting a download

I think I have this figured out now. I would copy the files, then "download" the game, and it would verify the files, basically "installing" it, right?

No, I do. Just I go there on the weekends, and my rig can't even manage 20FPS at bare minimum settings, and her PC is quite a bit more powerful.

You can backup the game files man, just go to steam then right click the game, properties, it appears a window, click in local files tab, and backup game files just put how many gb you want to backup,then pass it to you your grandma's pc, then when you are at your grandma's pc, use steam and click in steam tab where it says backup and restore games and click to the backup, its easy, if you have more questions just ask me
