Hello,

I have a very silly problem. I bought an Asus 560M motherboard and a Western Digital 1tb nvme drive to plug in for a boot drive.
I'm not sure if I'm missing a screw that fits the end mounting hole or if I'm supposed to have one of those new plastic swivel mechanisms to hold the nvme drive.

The only standoffs/screws that the motherboard came with fit underneath the drive but I hear that's supposed to be for securing a cover plate that I'm not using.

Am I missing a piece? Should I contact the manufacturer or can I buy the screw/plastic part somewhere?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

2280mm standoff is already preattached looking at the pictures. All you need is the m.2 screws which are either in the motherboard box, the m.2 box, or already attached on the m.2 standoff depending on many factors.

Good news! They’re standardized.  Motherboard screws are a bit like wire coat hangers.  Leave two in a dark place for a week and there are dozens of them.  Even if the thing didn’t come with one you can find one that will fit.  I’ve got a cup of them around somewhere.  There’s probably someone here who has buckets of them.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
