Hi all,

Since building my PC in November last year there has been a slight stuttering issue with most games.

Some games such as League of Legends have no stutter whatsoever, however most other games, from the original Far Cry, to more modern games such as Far Cry 5, Rogue Company, Call of Duty Cold War, etc... Have some form of stutter. At the moments of stutter, my framerate drops from 144 to anywhere between 130-90. However, using a gsync compatible monitor this should be no issue. At the moment of these frame drops none of my componentry is maxed out (including individuals CPU cores), my temperatures are within acceptable limits however my frame time spikes anywhere up to 130+ for 1-2 frames. This is what is making the game feel unstable.

I ran stress tests on my components including prime95 and memtest which produced no instability; plus I receive expected results on 3d marks tests.

Any idea what could be the problem?

Are the specs in your signature your system specs? Because the 5600x wasn't even out back then that is why I'm asking.

Yea they are; and I purchased my 5600x on the 20th of November 2020

The pw seems REALLY weak, would recommend for 3 rtx 3070s and a 5600x like a 1000W pw ngl

I thought we were september 2020. Damn time flies.

What are your temps?

With cores at max do you mean all or only a couple?

Is your ram in dual channel and at 3000mhz?

Temps for my GPU hit around 75; CPU around 70 (which is hotter than I read from most people, but after a few different coolers I've accepted them to be normal)

Cores at max I mean that my CPU overall never hits max, but I also track my cores individually and none of the individual cores/logical processors hit max

And yes, dual channel at 3000mhz

The games that you are getting issues on are like the open world AAA titles. Can you tell us if your games are installed on an ssd or hdd? I don't know if this helps but I had the same issue before when the games were installed in a hdd. Basically the read speed was too slow for loading the map when you are moving from place to place(how it was explained and I understood it). After adding nvme 3.0 and 2.5inch ssd and moving my games to those drives actually fixed my stutter issues. with your specs, you are probably using an ssd already but just want to make sure. Do a test were you undervolt and lock the frequency your gpu as well and check if it would have a stable fps.
