Mechanical Keyboard Backlight care guide anyone?

Gilkauss
Go to solution Solved by Gilkauss,

OT: I accidentally pressed something and it got the WASD and arrow keys lit up. How do I disable them?

---
Got the answer. It's gamer mode. FN +  F11 (WASD) and FN + F12 (Arrow Keys)

I got a Ducky Shine 3 for my birthday and it is AWESOME!

It has some really bright led lights and I was wondering would it be OK if I turn on the lights all the time. I use the PC most of the day (about 10-15 hours, work and play), and I'm thinking it would wear down the lights faster. Will turning the lights to low settings help? Or I'm just overthinking because I don't want to ruin my precious Ducky.

Thanks!

I turn off the lights on my keyboard when I am not gaming or typing, so watching videos or browsing interwebs is without leds for me.

Congrats on the new keyboard! I use my computer for work, college and entertainment too, so I know what it's like to spend +12 hours a day in the computer easily :P

I personally don't really worry about the LEDs too much, I haven't really heard a lot about them dying quickly and I think you should be able to RMA and get a replacement if they did.

turning off the LEDs to make them last longer? Its not really needed the LEDs would die from something else far sooner, mainly ESD.

I work at home and I have 2 (two) Full Time jobs, aside from some project based contracts. Thus  the 10-15 hrs spent on the PC. I usually do gaming in between for a breather.

I turn off the lights on my keyboard when I am not gaming or typing, so watching videos or browsing interwebs is without leds for me.

Good suggestion.

Thanks man! Unfortunately in my place there isn't much after market support that I can get since we only purchase these high end stuffs through a gray market. But I think Ducky's build quality is reliable so I think I wouldn't have to worry much now.

Good point though. It's also dusty in my place so ESD has higher probability. The plastic cover from the Ducky packaging may come into good use.  :)
