Budget (including currency): $1,000 USD

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Valorant, League of Legends, Minecraft,

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Peripherals don't need to be included. Upgrading from a laptop, buying in December/January, 60fps 1080p.

Hello, I'm trying to help a friend build a pc. I normally would advise them to build their own (or I would build it for them), but it's kinda hard to get hands on a GPU these days. I was wondering what good avenues there are for getting a PC in this current climate. It seems that prebuilt companies are just gonna be a ripoff and give you stupid configs like a 3060 with 8gb ram. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm considering trying to buy a used card from ebay or something like that. I was just hoping I could get some experienced opinions. To clarify I've built many PCs myself, I'm just not sure how to navigate this shortage effectively.

I would check out LTT's Secret Shopper series as a starting point.

Gamer nexus and many other youtubers also making videos about prebuilds, I watched some of those and I can tell you, None makes good prebuilt PC's, ABS and Lenovo seem okey to buy, But really not good enough to buy prebuilt if you can build a PC yourself.

Build one https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bsrwxc

The idea is to get a good PC that runs games okey right now and when prices balance by little, or if he'll be able he can get 3060/3060 ti or 6600XT for normal price.

Or here is second variant if GPU is necessary now.

And try to get GPU somehow 😄
