Best storage unit for longterm backup?

Recently I found out that my girlfriend's parents have all their very important data (wedding A/V, passwords, other photos, etc...) on single cheap and old ADATA external drive in their home vault in garage (sometimes very cold, sometimes vety hot).

 

So naturally I told them that this is not exactly safe to store all data like this and just single copy of them. In case of failure, all data are gone...

 

So I am searching for some good and reliable drive for them to make another copy. Do you guys have any recommendations what should I buy them?

 

Surely SSD is not good (NAND needs refreshes right?) and NAS is also not great because of connection to... well network. So maybe I am searching for some good and reliable external HDD.

Best longterm is tape. Downside is cost and capacity.
