amd opteron 1389

has anyone ever heard of this cpu? its so rare that it’s not even on userbenchmarks

i accidentally found it on ebay and supposedly it’s a quad core which is quite good for its time…

a quick google search says its a server cpu from about 2008

Opteron was AMD's old Server and Workstation lineup. This is pre-Ryzen stuff. There aren't many, if any, ATX or consumer boards for the Opteron platform so it's not surprising there aren't any benchmarks on it. The only boards that'll work on them are for rack mounts or odd ball OEM form factors.

Ive heard that opterons just like 1st gen epyc could be overclocked via p state

 

But opterons just suck ass in single core, prob slower than a stock core 2 duo e8200, and honestly multicore just sucks ass aswell since lga 2011 xeons are cheaper and pretty much annihilate opteron cpus anyways

Had an Opteron 1389 which ran in a Supermicro H8SSL-I2. 

 

Wasn't anything special about it. It's a Phenom chip with opteron branding essentially.
