Define fast and what do you do for gaming? That CPU is 12 years old, and you'd need a miracle to be able to consider it "fast" in 2021. If you just need to be snappy, an SSD will help a lot, as well as some more RAM. It might also be a good idea to transition to Linux, something lighter weight like Xubuntu. 

 

For gaming, you might want to get a newer GPU like a 750 Ti.

Overclock the sht out of the cpu, though you may need a better cooler

 

Swap that ancient gtx 260 for a better gpu such as the rx 460, 470, 560, 570

Snappy is what I ment sorry and ill have a look at Linux and a ssd for the system and try and pick up a better gpu

It had a flower cooler but it died would any decent tower cooler be fine ? And ill have a watch for those gpus

Maybe look at a cheap 120mm 4 heatpipe tower coolers like the se 224 xt, freezer 34, pure rock 2, though if there are cheaper options such as those chinese coolers then you can also go for those

Thanks after some hassle the gtx 260 turns out to have died (no surprise) is a 480 a decent replacement with my aging power supply?

Rx 480 is a good replacement

True I know its power requirements are a fusion power plant but it was cheap ill have a look at the rx 480 though
