So my 2600x with stock cooler is using Corsair TM30 paste, it was what was easily available when building, but I know it's thermal transfer is ass. Is it worth disassembling my rig to swap it out for better paste(Currently in a sleeper build so it would be 90% disassembly)? The only time it gets really warm (87-90C) is under like Atlas sized loads (3.95 all core video transcoding)

Would switching to something like kryonaut give that big of a difference? This is with wraith spire.

in some situations yes it can, in others no it wont. it depends on the amount of heat that needs to be transferred, the cooler and the amount of air flowing through the system.

if there isnt enough heat being generated then you probably wont see as much of a benefit to a thermal paste that can transfer more heat. same with the cooler, if the cooler isnt able to absorb and/or dissipate the amount of heat quick enough it doesn't matter. and again with air flowing through the case is lacking the greater the ambient temperature increases therefore temps are higher regardless of the thermal paste or cooler.

this is why you'll usually only see high end cooler and paste being thermal challenged in extreme environments as it's the only way to see a difference between them.

if you want recommendations on where you can improve you cooling situation. I would post pics of your build, specs, and since its custom sleeper try to include measurements like CPU cooler clearance if possible.

you dont even now if the cooler will fit inside the build or users budget. facepalm

that's true, not sure if OP is still using xps dimension d300 case...

Yup, still rocking that nostalgia trip. The lightly modified bottom actually did manage to keep normal use thermals excellent. I do have aggressive fan curves, but the fans are quite quiet. Silent wings and Silverstone slim.

But in serious talk here: would that upgrade to better thermal paste make a big difference if the heavy loads are infrequent and it is usually under 60C?
