Thanks for all the responses, guys! I was looking at some Asus boards earlier but didn't see the M5A99FX Pro R2 :P Looks good to me and isn't too expensive, but I was wondering something:

I'm gonna need the PCI-E x1 slot for my wifi adapter (and for some reason the first 16x slot is above the 1x), but using the black PCI-E x16 for my 660 and the other black one for my second 660 should be fine right? I'm pretty sure there isn't an order that needs to be followed.

~Andy

You can use the black 16x slot for your 1x card, I had a similar issue because I have sli video cards, but I have been running my pcie 1x sound card in the black 16x slot with no issues.

Hey, LTT peeps! I've recently built myself a half-decent (in terms of UK prices which are always more expensive) rig at the end of last year with these specs:

CPU: FX8320

RAM: 1x8GB XMS3 (will upgrade to 2x8GB eventually)

GPU: Asus GTX660

Mobo: Asrock 970 Extreme 4

PSU: Corsair CX600M

Case: Zalman Z11 Plus

HDD: 500GB Hitachi + 1TB WD Green

I'm looking at planning some upgrades for it (getting an SSD, more ram, better cpu cooler, maybe second GPU) and since I'll be overclocking I was wondering what board you could recommend? The only requirements are for it to be black with blue and support good overclocks.

Hadn't thought of that, but that's actually not a bad way of doing it! Once I've got the money and a few other upgrades (1080p monitor, SSD, decent CPU heatsink) I'll be onto this board! Thanks everyone! :D

Edit: Also, fx8320/8350 and GTX660 seems to be fairly popular!

cheap and good performance in the US and Canada, and 'affordable' over here in the UK (taxes and made up shipping tariffs etc)
