also that mushkin ssd has literally no cache according to pcpartpicker

Eh pcpartpicker is wrong since it does have cache, pcpartpicker is a great site for planning your builds but that doesnt mean it has no flaws

Maybe wait for someone else to respond to validate whether or not the pilot e has dram cache or not

Oh god no, that mindset will lead you down the path of overspending on sht youll never even be able to use

300$ sounds small compared to 7000$ but when you consider getting a cheaper cpu, mobo, ram, psu, etc, it adds up alot, and by swapping to what i reccomend you will be able to keep your performance but prob save around 1000$ or more

Then you can just save the extra money for other things like peripherals or just have it saved up for emergencies

I don't think I'm going to have any "emergencies" for the next 5 years or so

also this is going to be the pc I use through college, and I plan on getting an engineering degree, so I might have to do detailed simulations, then again that's speculation

regardless of what I do here I should have around 15-25k by the time I enter college

At that point i think you should just ditch intel and go for a 5900x 12 core or 5950x 16 core + 64 or 128gb of ram

Cause i think complex simulations require a sht ton of ram and prob alot of cpu horsepower aswell, if youd like to keep good single thread but also decent multithread go for the 5900x, if you want a crap ton of multithread then go 5950x though at the cost of some single thread performance

Now i see why the gpu and ram are so overkill, i legit thought it was a gaming only build since the cpu is a dinky 8 core

You never know when life will suddenly turn on you, so save up abit of money just incase you need it

One day youll thank yourself for saving that extra money when you need it most

I'll get the money for the pc around august 2022, and that's only a few months before intel plans to release 7nm tech, so I can hold back a bit for that, after all, the pc I'm currently using is competent

I expect intel to pass ryzen around 2025 or so, so if I end up really having to upgrade the pc for something, it should be around then, I think pcs might be worth upgrading every 5-10 years, bc that seems to be about how long it takes for a truly monumental technology like DLSS comes out

also I don't think I'll ever be truly begging for this amount of money, it's not much in the real grand scheme of things
