Budget (including currency): 1000

Country: usa

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Machine Learning, light gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Threadripper 1920x

ASRock X399 Phantom Gaming 6

T Force Delta 32gb 3200 RAM

Quadro k4000

Tesla K80

GAMEMAX 750w 80+ gold

I just built an AM4 pc but it does not have enough PCIE lanes for my needs. I currently have a gamemax 750w 80+gold power supply. I Willbuying the X399 motherboard with a 1920x CPU. I also plan on getting a overpriced 3060 and getting rid of the quadro k4000. This pc is mainly for machine learning and AI research. I sometimes like to play warframes also. Im hoping I dont HAVE to buy another PSU. Will this power supply be ok or do i really need a 850 or 1000w?

I ran an overclocked 1950x at 4GHz and an overclocked Vega 64 Nitro+ on a 750W power supply (and 1x8-pin CPU connector, not connecting an extra 4-pin). It's fine.

All gamemax psu's range from bad to terrible so I'm surprised your system is even functional right now. It should be replaced asap by a good psu.

Also keep in mind the threadripper 1920 is well a potato basically as first gen threadripper kinda sucks and is beaten by even consumer grade ryzen one.

What am4 system do you have now? I'm surprised you run out of pcie lanes as even 8x is PLENTY to feed a quadro that old with that tesla.

currently i have

ryzen 7 1700

msi b450 tomahawk.

I would like to have the 3060 with 2 or 3 k80s. The b450 wont even utilize the other half of the k80 for some reason. I already have the 1920x so instead of buying another AM4 motherboard and run out of resources again quickly ,I decided to go with the TR4. The TR4 gives me the expandability i need and if I want I could always upgrade it to a newer TR4.  Thankfully I have 4 days left to return the PSU to amazon so Im going to return the GAMEMAX 750.

What would be the best budget 1000w PSU? I dont care about rgb

A corsair rmx 1000w would work well. Not cheap but hey you pay for quality and something that doesn't kill your pc :p.

Since you already have it sure why not get the board then.

Upgrade what? Tr4 is limited to slow old cpu:s. Str4x has the good 3000-series and maybe 5000-series.

As others said, get a better PSU.

Isn't that ASRock mobo a bit constraining with only 3 PCIe slots? I'd go for one with 4 slots personally, but that's up to your needs.

The CPU should be more than enough for your needs, since they aren't really CPU bould in anyway and what you really need is more PCIe slots, ignore the comments about it since most of the users are only used to gaming-scenarios.
