Hello,

I have search maybe not deep enough about making a computer boot from a network using PXE. Is it possible to make 15 different pc boot from one main server/pc so that only one pc that requires hard drives.

here's what i found:

- Using windows PXE manager:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/configure-a-pxe-server-to-load-windows-pe

- Installing windows PE:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/winpe-intro

- Using Windows ADK:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/get-started/adk-install

Goal: making all 15 computers boot from network & setting up a network server for the 15 computers.

if my question isn't clear or/and if there's any other recommendation please do ask me back.

THANK YOU.

It used to be possible.  My college used to do exactly this.  I think the term is Thin Client nowadays.  It was damned slow back in the day though.  But that was on an old COAX network 😂

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Think client is normally a remote desktop client, not a network boot.

But why? HDDs/ssds are gonna be cheaper than this server, much faster. I don't see the point

I have done this a good amount, this is mostly for installing windows, not booting, there are other tools for this.

yes, it is going to be cheaper but i want to be able to "take home" all the boot drive/take home the server when im done from the office. is there a way for this because cost can be ignored.

Really the performance is gonna suck, id really suggest against this.

Also most of these programs are gonna cost money, and often more than the $20 dollar ssds or hdds would. Really don't do this.

I think there re some programs like ccboot I tried in the past, don't remember much from then though.
