So I was thinking today how I could use the Google Voice app for my phone with a data only plan, have free calling and texting.  However I am unclear if data only plans that work with smartphones exist.  T-Mobile has one, but it doesn't mention phones just tablets and mobile hotspots.  Does anyone know if a phone data only plan exists?  Also is there a problem with only using Google voice for calling and texting?  I don't work so it isn't world ending if it doesn't work 100% of the time.

Well, how good is their service?  Also I was hoping to get like a 1gb plan for $15 or something.

T-Mobile has plan for $30, 100 minutes, unlimited texting, unlimited web only first 5GB is 4G then throttle

Also beware that Google Voice app uses your phone minutes, it is NOT a VOIP.

There are some very comprehensive threads on XDA about the T-Mobile $30 plan and VOIP services.

I was hoping to pay less than that.  Could you link me to some of those threads?
