Thanks for taking your time and coming to my TED talk.

First time building a computer from scratch and want to make sure things are looking good. I have been updating this list and finally decided to pull the trigger and couldn't find a more perfect time with GPU's falling from the sky. I do have a little experience with repairing systems at work, but that can be different than building from scratch.

I am mostly going to be playing games anyone else would be playing (Mod Minecraft, CSGO, Mod Skyrim...). I do a little bit of programming on the side, but those are mostly for scripts that I am too lazy to do from day to day life. I am looking to future proof this a little bit and not buy a new computer 2 years from now. I am not asking for 15 years of service about 4-5 years would be nice. I originally was going to get the 5600x, but found that the 8 cores of 5800x would be better. I plan on getting whatever I can find for under $500 for the GPU. When creating the list I found the BIOS capability error, and was wondering if most people just ignore it. I know the motherboard that I selected has BIOS Flash and want to make sure this is enough (don't want to play buy a 3600 and then return after upgrading BIOS).

So you either have lunch money for PC or a down payment of a small house for PC. Okay?

Well if i were you i would still wait. 500$ for a 3060 is still very irrational for me, considering you can even get 3060Ti lightly scalped at that price point.

I'm going to assume this is a typo and you meant to say $1200-$1300. If you actually meant $13000, I've got some suggestions.

Looks great, a pretty well thought out build. The error you can just ignore, it said the same thing for my build and it powered up no problem (I did have BIOS flashback as a backup though). Even if you didn't, AMD has a BIOS update process you can go through where they lend you some Athlon chip to update your BIOS then send back. 8 cores is probably a better idea if you want it to last 5 years, games are trending more and more towards actually being multithreaded. Good luck getting a decently priced GPU though, it might be worth trying to go to AMD and see if you can get a 6700XT or 6800 through their queue system.

That being said, there are 2 things I would change about this system.

1.) Swap out the memory for something 3600MHz. It's something like an extra 5% performance for $10 more, fairly worth it IMO.

2.) A different PSU might be a decent idea. I don't remember that unit being too great, and a Corsair CX650M is a pretty decent unit for about the same price.

That's it. Overall great build.

Get yourself a better psu, for sure, as well as a better cpu & cpu cooler combination. I imagine you'll get good enough deals, and have more saved up by Black Friday, to do this.
