Power system down

Go to solution Solved by Bombastinator,

It used to be that there was a way to fully shut down windows by holding down a key while choosing shutdown.  Windows key or option or something.  The internet will know. Or someone else.  For me the outlet cord is easier to get at than the PSU switch so I took to just pulling the cord after I shut down. Can be a real problem with laptops though because you can’t just pull the battery anymore.  There I understand is or used to be a way to force it to do a hard shutdown every time using settings.

Hi guys

When I shut down Windows, my PC enter a "Soft Shutdown", keeping some devices on like a single RGB led on the main board, and probably some USB ports as well, I have not tested that.

I would like that when I shut down Windows, my PC enter a "Hard Shutdown" equal to turning off the power supply.

How do I manage to do that?

Anyone out there with a ASUS STRIX Z270E GAMING main board with any m.2 NVMe SSD, who can share their BIOS setup, or some screen dups of the setup?

Anyone knows if ASUS STRIX Z270E GAMING main board has any oddities or quirks related to the use of M.2 NVMe SSD drives?

Thanks in advance

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Hi Bombastinator

Sometimes the simple solution is the best solution, and I need some power surge protection anyway, so I can just place it so it's easy to turn it on/off, baybe under

the table.

The thing with laptops and the internal battery is something i never have given a thought, that effing suck big time.

Guess Microsoft has to put in a "Total Power OFF" option, when you shutdown - Like that will ever happen 🙂

Thanks for the help man

There should be one.  It’s needed for some things.  I just don’t know what the keystroke is.  It may also have been removed from win10.  A power strip switch would work.
