Nighthawk MR60 solid orange light, no internet.

I brought the refurbed model with one satellite speaker. The router had the orange light on vs the blue light on the satelite.

The MAC address was starting with a 10, which the ISP tech told me "it's acting like a bridge". The connection is from the outside ISP provided modem to this router.

There is a post here to change the DNS server. I did that, no joy there.

Any help is appreciated.

  1. Did you power-cycle everything?
  2. What make/model of ISP device? Is it overriding the DNS with its own?
  3. I saw that post on the Netgear forum. Not sure how a DNS setting could have been the cause of the issue. I wonder what the MR60 uses by default.

1. Power cycled and factory resetted also, no joy.

2. It's mounted on the outside. The techs there say that it's not overriding anything. But the MR60's MAC address is weird, even for them.

3. I am currently using another Nighthawk router and that works just fine. Plug and play almost. Tempted to get another unit and check if that works.

  1. Is that an internet gateway or simple modem? What type of internet is this?
  2. And you're sure you plugged the ethernet cable from the ISP device to the internet port of the MR60?
  3. What does the Nighthawk app report?

If you have a gateway device and its LAN DHCP server is working, this might conflict with what the MR60 is trying to do.

1. fiber optic cable from Northstate.

2. yes. Didnt connect anything to the ethernet side while setup.

3. app says that it has found the router, but no internet connection.

I cannot access the modem from Northstate, just relying on what the tech is telling me.

Like I said before, the other nighthawk router is perfectly fine, the one I am using right now.
