Ram related problems

I recently upgraded my ram in my desktop. and i bought 2 '4gb ddr3' rams and when i physically installed both of them the system did not boot but after removing one stick the system did boot and my both ram slots are working. so is that the other ram stick is defected that is why the system is not booting. and also if one of the ram stick in a dual channel configuration is defected can that be a reason the system is not booting?

There is always a chance of mixing and matching rams not working, despite what everyone makes you believe. This sounds like one of them.

the thing is. mixing and matching does not alwasy work. it might work sometimes. if i were you i would update the bios of the pc. if it does not work, i should return the ram you bought and buy ram that is as close to your old ram's specs as it can. like the speed, voltage and timings.

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.
