i5 10400 or i5 11400

Hey, here the i5 10400 priced around $193 and i5 11400 around $235, add RAM price difference (2666mhz vs 3200 mhz) around USD $10

 

So, is it worth the ~$52 difference? Also to be noted it will be paired with ASUS Prime H510M-A motherboard. If i need a B560 chipset to make the 11400 more worth it, please consider the price difference as well.

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

Gpu tier list. Rtx 3000 and RX 6000 not included since not so many reviews. Tier S for Water cooling. Tier A and B for overcloking. Tier C stock and Tier D avoid.

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

Ah thanks. It will mainly be used for coding and opening like 20+ browser tabs. Is the 10400 still the better choice given price?

yeah you could prob. even drop to an i3 for that, presuming the savings is there.

 

You used to be able to get an i3-10100F for like $100

Sorry, but with current GPU market, i don't think i will get the F variant. Also is 4 core/8 thread really enough? I will try to use this machine at least 5 year, so i worry in the future that 8 thread won't be enough. Might be false though

For what you're doing, probably. but 10400 is a great choice still.
