Can't make bootable USB with rufus

I have a kingston data traveler USB that I want to put a linux install on but it won't work, when I put it in rufus it does the job then I hear disconnect sound and then rufus fails without reason

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

tried it but my USB won't show up there or in explorer, in disk manager it shows up as raw and when I removed the raw and made a new volume it just disconnects
