Laptop for college/work

Hy guys, I'm looking for a laptop for college/work. I've been looking at some gaming laptops with amazing prices lke the legion 5, but I don't really game that much and would rather have a lighter, thiner and more ergonomic laptop, since I would use it mostly for word, chrome and translation programs. I think I need 16 gigs of ram, because I use a stupid amount of chrome tabs during translation projects with the research and online dictionaries. Plus translation programs like memoq and tradus also use some ram. I thought of the m1 macs due to price to performance and the huge trackpad that would be usefull for subtitling programs and general browsing. The thing is, I really need a good keybord, and I have never tried the new one but it looks a bit shallow in terms of travel and feel. If you've tried the new macbook keyboard please tell me how it feels. My max budget is 1500 euros, which as of right now is 1780 USD and 2220 CAD. It's not urgent, as I still have an hp laptop, but it is slowly dying. It currently has two dead pixel lines, and after I installed pirated windows 10, it lost it's ability to hibernate. It just freezes with a black screen and the fan on. I would apreciate your help and sugestions!!

I do not dislike the new Macbook keyboards. I think it is a huge improvement over the butterfly keyboards they've used in the past. Apparently, the key travel on the current keyboards is 1mm.

I would also like to add that a computer losing its ability to hibernate or sleep is, in my experience, almost always due to driver issues. It could also be incorrect BIOS settings, you should make sure S4 (hibernate) is enabled. As for drivers, another forum post recommended Snappy Driver Installer for installing and updating every conceivable driver available for your Windows computer.

Gaming laptops get warm fast, old fast, and slow fast. (in my opinion)

For college / work? I would go for a HP Probook or a Dell thinkpad.

Thinkpads in my opinion are one of the best laptops you can get.

(not sponsored lol)

Since keyboard feel is very important to you, I would recommend checking out the computer before purchase in a physical store. As for recomendations, Lenovo Thinkpads have some of the best keyboards I used. I also like some of the more expensive HP models and MS Surface devices, but that's my subjective opinion.
