Can I power my SSD off of another computer

So I'm upgrading my old Alienware X51, which only has one SATA power cable to the old HHD and I want to clone the drive to a new SSD so... if I were to power the SSD off of another pc but plug the SATA in the the Alienware to do the cloning will anything blow up???

The optical drive power is probably sata, you could borrow that for the duration of the clone.

Although with a dell, they could have monkeyed with that.

It might be fine, I would at least make sure that both of the power supplies are plugged into the same outlet/circuit.

Or you could get a usb drive enclosure, they're pretty cheap and might be useful in the future.

Or you could buy a SATA power connector, the actual plastic piece, and add it to the existing SATA wires. Something like this
