sorry,I see that my phrased my question wrong. What I am actually looking for is an answer to whether this DAC is worth the extra money?

Asking also because I'm not sure if my mobo supports the High-resolution sound or if I need the DAC to have this.

EDIT : Went into control panel and the last 2 options are

24bit, 96000 Hz

24bit, 192000 Hz

Does this mean that I can have high res audio without the DAC?

Your motherboard has a built in dac. So technically your motherboard supports high res audio it's a matter of if it can play them well. Thether getting a dac or not is worth the money depends entirely on what headphone your rocking

I am planning on buying a new headset, Steelseries Arctis Pro Wired.

There are 2 versions of this headset, one with a GameDAC and one without one.I'm unsure what the gameDAC does but I was told that if my motherboard supports the headphone's hd audio or 40kz audio, again I dont know what any of this means but I'd like to know if I need this part because of it is slightly more expensive.

here is the version with the gameDAC part.

My specs are :

B450 Tomahawk mobo

Rx570

Ryzen 3400g cpu

I did not buy any extra audio parts for my PC.

Well like the name implies it's a DAC, digital to analog converter

It's connect through usb and provide "high res" output for your headset

It's a usb Dac as mentioned it's converts digital to analog. Your mobo will work with it as your motherboard audio capabilities have absolutely nothing to do with this usb device

Iirc you can buy it separately and for the best of both worlds just buy the headset first and try it with your motherboard sounds, if it's good then keep it but if it's not you can buy that or other dac in the similar price range or even cheaper
