1080p 240hz is not a rpg monitor it’s a competitive shooter monitor. Many people can’t even see a change over 100hz. 240 is I am given to understand mostly just for additional hitbox opportunities in esports. Only of concern to professionals.  Takes 4k worth of video card to run a 1080p image fast enough just to get that last bump so like +$usa500 for something you may not even see.  1080p@120 is 2k though which is much cheaper. A standard package for rpg gaming is often 60hz. So maybe an rx580, but if you want max fps that goes way way up though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

can you wait for prices to come down? or do you really need to buy it now?

I can wait but only if the diference in price is worth it...

That would makes sense.  CS is a competitive shooter. So let’s assume not only aaa stuff, but a general games thing, which makes the video card selection make more sense. I vaguely remember reading that 3070s can have performance issues with 1080p, so running with the 3060ti, you’ve got a fair amount to play with. A common ratio is to spend half the budgeted money on the video card. Using a 3060ti with those prices (which arent bad btw.  I’ve seen much worse) you can afford an 8/16 system instead of a 6/12

im kinda liking the 11709f atm.  It’s cheap, and while it’s turbo is 4.8 which isn’t the very fastest it’s not slow either.  Isnt significantly faster than a 10700f, but lga1200 may come with newer ports. it won’t OC so b series motherboards come into the table. Could even afford one of the bigger cards with this.

Budget comes in pretty low.

well that depends on you. since prices are inflated currently, its expected that the inflation will decrease by about ~~10%/month

eg:

msrp is $500, selling on ebay for 1000 (100% inflation)

expect price to come down by 50$/month so next month price will be 950 (90% inflation)

these numbers are all examples and its unknown how quickly price will come down

also keep in mind that there are rumors that there is going to be a huge 3060 supply dump soon so that could impact pricing as well.

Heavily "optimized" or slightly upgraded version of your list

Swapped board for a cheap but decent z490

Swapped cooler for a beefier one cause unlocked power limits = nuclear reactor cpu

Upgraded psu to 850w

cheaper ram

Cheaper case, which for some reason has rgb + 3 fans preinstalled whilst being cheaper than a p300a

Go z motherboard might as well go k then too. It’s not a whole lot more.   Cheap ram is what I was going for.  If there’s cheaper it’s a win.  Cheaper can mean slow though.  Don’t want to go too too slow.  3000ghz ram is starting to go full budget.  11 series can get more out of ram than 10 series.  Not a lot.  It’s the 9 series where one might as well go 2100mhz because memory speed on those is near pointless.  I went cheap airflow case.  You got better go for it.  If it’s one of those glass front no functional front airflow though it’s a false economy as those fans don’t actually do anything.  I did go no RGB.  I feel that until one has a top line unit rgb is pure wasted money because the money could have been spent in a more powerful system.  Might be able to shoehorn a 5900 or something in there for that matter but there’s no real need.  Upcoming Games can’t really require anything faster than a hotted up 2700x can go and current games don’t even need that, so anything 8core and over 3.5ghz pwns by default for gaming.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Tbh i just add rgb if its not too expensive or literally the same or even cheaper than the non rgb counterpart, so if i do add rgb its gonna be in the range of ~20-50$ depending on the budget of the build and the price of the non rgb counterpart

Literally the exact same reason i bash asthetic based or overpriced disco ball rgb builds

Ive looked at the case i chose and yep its mesh, has 3 fans with 2 being rgb built in, whilst being the same price or even cheaper than a p300a + 2 fans since the p300a only comes with 1 exhaust fan

Only reason to go p300a is in builds where op says no rgb

I’ll take rgb if it’s cheaper.  I can always black it out.  It sounds like yours is better.
