Will my 780 work with sli after its not supported?

Meintfeenstra

I ordered a 780 before I knew I wouldn’t be supported for sli to try it out. Will it still work after it’s not supported by the drivers? I ordered the card to play around with it.

If you are playing games that support it and they dont need driver updates, it will work the same way it would when it came out.

In games that still have SLI support from the era that card is from there is no reason why it shouldn't still work.

SLI development and support for future titles is what is going away..  already gone, actually.

All that's going on is Nvidia is going to stop making game ready drivers for those older cards. That's actually not a huge deal, because odds are you couldn't play the newest games with those cards anyways. You'll still get security updates and such. It also doesn't affect the ability of your card to do anything it can currently do. It's not like Nvidia is bricking it or something.

That said, SLI is dead. There's only a handful of games that even support it, most of which you'd probably not be playing anyways. Even then, it never worked well, with stuttering and other issues be common.

Just don't try and use new drivers.  Grab a full copy of the latest 2-3 drivers that supports your card, and archive it somewhere for yourself.

Also, you spent money to go SLI in 2021?  Odd choice.

I mean, you can run SLI in games from 3-5 years ago, I suppose
