For those games, nothing.  It's a perfect PC for them.

If it were me, I'd add a 1TB SSD for games and lose the HDD. #AllSSD4Life

GPU's are too expensive to recommend replacing just yet.

3600x is a damn fine gaming CPU.

How are your peripherals?  They impact the experience too.

Why are you wanting to upgrade?

Only thing that would be a major upgrade would be your GPU, but we all know why you can’t get that. I would just save more money for when you actually need to upgrade, as your system sounds fine ATM.

Maybe upgrade the PSU in case your current one sucks?

I agree with all the comments above mine. I would probably add an aftermarket CPU cooler and maybe some better case fans for better thermals/noise levels but it might be unnecessary since all the games you listed are relatively easy to run.

The more I learn, the more I realise I don't actually know anything.

Recommendations: Lian Li 205m (sleek, pretty decent airflow for a non-mesh front panel and cheap), i5-10400f (Ryzen 5 3600 performance, 20% cheaper), Arctic P14 PWM fans, Logitech g305.

I'm not going to comment on you use case and (edit) I'll offer upgrades for upgrade's sake.
So my advice and observation.

You have a very basic mobo, so can't go Ryzen 9 with a B450.

You RAM speed and timing make a significant difference with Ryzen. Try enabling DOCP if it's not already on and you might see a difference in bench test right away. Otherwise 3600 Mhz Ram with low CAS latency might make a difference Make sure you use only 2 sticks and not 4.

Get a good NVME SSD
-A 1tb Samsung 980 (PCIE gen 3) would do the trick. Install the OS on it.
-You might want a second SSD for game loading, that could be a SATA one or you can put in a PCIe expansion card to fit a 2nd one.

Then a good CPU cooler like a Fuma 2 or a Nh d15, assuming you have a well ventilated case. You can keep that for future builds

A 3060ti at MSRP would be a nice step up from you 5500xt. That might happen before Christmas.

A Ryzen 7 5800x would be a little faster while keeping your old Mobo.

Personally, with your budget I would try to flip your current mobo/cpu/RAM for around 300 pounds and get better ones like an x570/Ryzen 7 5800x/ 2 x16 3600 Ram cooler and a gen 4 PCIe SSD. I don't know prices in the UK so you might want to make a budget 1st and make sure your PSU can handle it.

I have to respectfully disagree, even though you did preface it.

Your advice would bring his low-midrange machine up to mid-upper level, which is not what I think is appropriate.

A few of the upgrades are upgrades for paper numbers.  NVMe SSD?  Useless for gaming.  5800x?  Useless in those games, except to go from 200fps to 300fps.

3060Ti?  Even at Christmas won't do him a bit of good to blow his whole budget on.

Replacing RAM?  Come on, that's nitpicking and not worth the hassle.  No one I know does that once you have it.

I get that it's spitballing and "if you had $1500" to blow, but it's not reasonable advice in this situation.  I hope the OP doesn't rush out and buy anything.

Guess you like Razer 😉 And hate punctuation 😞

Should be all set for a while. I'd wait until the machine actually doesn't perform at a level you want.  Then look into upgrades.

thanks yh dont worry i didnt buy anything i could tell some of the stuff he/she/they said would just show in benchmarking and not really do anything in terms of games as most things are in short bursts not long hard benchmarks but i can see why he/she/they might say that as graphicly that might be a improvement
