There has yet to be a gpu that fully saturates pci-e 2.0. No need for 3.0.

I have been thinking of getting a new GPU and am waiting for Maxwell BUT I have an AMD chip and I have found no motherboards that have PCI-e 3.0. Are there any? if so could you put an amazon link? (preferably a US link so I can see the pricing in my currency.)

none of them have pcie 3.0 but it doesn't matter because pcie 2.0 has plenty of bandwidth

Yes even those high end cards like the r9 290x will run fine in pci e 2.0. But there is one from asus that has pci e 3.0 support. It's the sabertooth fx990 r2.0.

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

If you really want pci e 3.0 then you either use intel board or use the newer fm2+ apu and mobo combo.

Otherwise its just improved features

There was only one AM3+ board with PCIe 3.0 support which was the Asus Sabertooth Gen3/R2.0 but the board has been discontinued.

While 990FX only has PCIe 2.0 it actually has twice as many PCIe lanes as Z87 & Z77, so you can do CrossfireX/SLI in PCIe2.0 16x/16x mode while with Z77 & Z87 you can only do CrossfireX/SLI in PCIe3.0 8x/8x mode.
So the overall bandwidth is actually identical between the two platforms.

Think that the Asus Sabertooth with the PCIE 3 was discontinued....will have to find one floating around ebay or some site similar....as other postings state...no big deal to use gen 2.

Specs on profile page.

so u have a 6600k...there is no harm in using pci 2.0 for now bcoz the gpus dont use that much bandwidth (pci 3.0)....so u can definitely go with the mobo u already have and install the new gpu...although if u want u can always switch to intel... :) u will be getting pci 3.0 with even the low end mobos with H87 chipset....

Since you have a fm2 apu you can buy a fm2+ board usually the a88x will be a safe choice. You can upgrade to a better apu like the a10-7850k and you can do extreme oc with the a88x
