I used the regedit hack to stop updates but it didnt work. I use a p104-100 gpu on linux so it is somewhat required. I only use the windows for minecraft with shaders. So updates are quite literally not needed. So how would i stop them? On each reboot i get update loops. Not even login screen. It is rather bad. As is having my pc's ability to do anything cut off. As per 7gb of my 16 (rest is used by igpu) being taken up. Can bearly run a file explorer.

I associate Regedit with windows.  It’s sort of the master of registry screwups, I’m not familiar with a “the regedit hack” so this very well may be stupid and useless.   The ham handed solution would be to simply cut your windows install from any access to the internet.  Can’t update if there’s no connection.  It’s sort of needed anyway as avoiding windows updates makes for insecure stuff. Perhaps this is or is part of what “the regedit hack” is supposed to do.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I use my ubuntu second drive for browsing. In windows, the settings app doesnt even pull up anymore to access display to change screen resolution, let alone wifi since this update loop begun so this is not possible. And even then to join minecraft servers i need wifi. So minecraft is literally all this drive is for. By doesnt pull up i mean i click settings, any setting after searching in start only to find it turns blue like was clicked, but after being clicked nothing opens. Not even seen by alt tab.

I thought Minecraft ran on Linux.  Might be a mod thing.

Yea, a lot of Minecraft mods don't like Linux, especially anything involving shaders. It's the lack of OpenCL on open source drivers. So OP does need Windows for shaders to work.

Makes sense. I’ve only ever played Minecraft on an iPhone and I was careful to do it single player.  Anything involvingPvP for me produces  truely and memorably epic suckage. It’s not even merely mediocre or something.it’s “wow!  That guy REALLY sucks!”I learned not to show my face in PvP 20 years ago and it has only gotten worse.
