Some help with overclocking Ram?

I’m running 15-9400f on a h310m pro-vdh plus motherboard, with two sticks of ddr4 3000mhz ram but I can’t seem to overclock higher than 2400mhz, even though both board and cpu allow for ram speeds of 2666mhz, the xmp is enabled and does also set the speed at 2666mhz, but the computer won’t boot unless I change the speed down to the max of 2400mhz, I’m new to overclocking and I’m really not sure what I’m doing wrong and how to get closer to the advertised ram speeds
