Hi all,

New to the forums but long time viewer of the channel and honestly, not nearly as knowledgable as the rest of you I imagine are, hence my reaching out for help.

The laptop in question is only used for playing Football Manager, browsing internet, watching videos, Excel, Word, and general everyday life stuff so nothing too excessive pushing it to the limit but recently (last... three days?) I've noticed some occasions on start up, or when it's left to go to screensaver after a while, it'll switch itself to the Boot Menu (attached image). The laptop works perfectly fine the rest of the time, never had any problems, still runs smoothly whilst in regular operation, etc. etc. so this has been a bit of a surprise, honestly.

Is there anything I can do to combat this? I'd rather keep this laptop than quit on it now and this is early days for the issue so hope it isn't going to get any worse. I also tried each of the four options on the Boot Menu and none of them do anything, the only thing I can do to get out of it is simply restart the laptop again and then it works fine the next time around.

Thanks for your help.

Might try a new cmos battery. If its dead then this may just be the default for your brand of laptop.

Otherwise it could also be a short in your keyboard causing the menu to come up.

How do I do these? When I say knowledge is less than the majority here, I've never taken a laptop apart.
