Since the 3600 and 3700X came out at the same time, they should have both been supported by the same BIOS update, so that wouldn't be an issue.

 

The only potential concern would be if the motherboard you have is low quality and can't handle the power requirements of the 3700X. That said, if you don't plan on overclocking it, it's probably fine unless the motherboard is absolute bottom-of-the-barrel tier.

If you are upgrading your CPU without changing the motherboard, you should not feel any worries because CPU and motherboard compatibility is important and you want to make sure that your motherboard can support your new CPU. If you decide to upgrade a CPU, make certain that the cooler you own is compatible with the higher-power chip.
