150/150 download/upload network, but 300-500ms from just using 7-8mb/s to download?

MultiGamerClub

Currently downloading a big game on steam, im home alone (woohoo) and its only getting to 8mb/s.. out of our usual 20 mb/s.. (Steam says it peaks at 20mb/s when it was set at that speed, set to 8mb/s now.)

Yet the games i play show immense / big spikes of ping showing way beyond 300ms+, why?

Probably a dumb question but im wondering what the other 12 mb/s would be doing when im alone with this speed..

Surely this internet speed should handle games fine.. or not?

We use Netgear's Orbi Mesh Wifi 6 System, but its cabled out to me with a cat5e cable.

edit: Why its cabled: Wifi somehow not good enough around a wooden wall that my pc-cabinet sits JUST around the corner.. apparantly not strong enough for 10/20 speeds 😐
