No I don't want to save a backup,I was just wondering if it replaces it with a new one and erases the settings. Because that's what I want,I want to start fresh so if it could replace the registry automatically without  messing up my apps it will be great. So does it do that?

I don't know about the entire think but I know it doesn't delete the ones I have inserted or updated on my own.

If your want a true clean start, you can try resetting it or reinstalling clean.

Hey,does updating to a newer Windows(in this case Windows 11) reset the registry and its settings?

For the registry, I think you should be able to save a backup copy before updating and then restore it once you're in Windows 11.

Back up the Windows Registry, NortonLifeLock Inc, 3 Nov. 2020, support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20080528170617EN.

However, I am not that sure regarding what would happen to your settings, maybe the legacy Backup and Restore feature will still work (Windows 10 Settings --> Update and Security --> Backup --> Go to Backup and Restore)?

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,
