Hello more knowledgeable people than me 馃檪

In my home we just got a new router from our isp and my room is way down from that router so I have an ethernet cable going from the router to my room. I have that going into an old router to basically repeat the signal. This has worked great until now when my computer gets the full fat speed of about 30-40 mbps from the router but my phone and my chromecast only gets around 10mbps. Upload speed however is consistent through the devices I reset my old router and tried to set it up but to no avail. I will upload some pictures of my config and maybe someone knows whats up cause I sure dont 馃槥

I'd recommend using the "Spoiler" feature of the forum (the eyeball icon) for those pictures. That's a lot to scroll through.

Is your computer connected via ethernet to the second router? And what sort of speed were you getting on your phone and Chromecast before this issue started?

Alrigt thanks聽

No I have it connected via wifi like the other devices. Before this I was getting about 20mbps across the board but the last router had ADSL now we have 4G instead so not really comparable I dont think

If your phone is in the same room as the router, does its speed increase to match the computer? Proximity to a router can sometimes make a big difference for wireless devices.

No difference even if my phone is laying on top of the router

Wifi speed issues are always difficult to figure out.

My next guess would be that your router might be allocating bandwidth in a way that gives more to the computer than to the other devices. I don't see anything about that in the settings you've shown, but some routers allow you to give certain devices priority over others. Perhaps your computer is getting priority for some reason, so if it engages in any network activity, the bandwidth given to other devices drops.

Yeah maybe but even if the pc is off the speeds are still slow. Weird issue this but it doesnt matter too much anymore since my chromecast is working decently again

Hello,

Please download an app called WiFi analyser if you have an android device and check what channels the 2.4Ghz are too and also the 5Ghz, then change them accordingly to channel that is not being used.. This will allow you get rid of all the signal congestion away from your devices.

Alright I did that but I dont really understand it so maybe you guys can explain. The red one is the router which is the problem.聽

AS you can see, all the WiFi devices are congested, best to change the channel for the 2.4Ghz and put it on channel 13.

Look at the first picture you uploaded. Thats where the setting is. Yours is set to auto. But you can manually change it to what ever is legal in your country.聽

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.聽

Thanks tried that but sadly made no difference. Now the new router is having very unstable speeds also. Maybe that is just the 4G but this new router is shit only problems came with it 馃槥

Ok guys I have tried a lot of things. First I bought a range extender that I use as an access point and then I thought it was the main router so I bought a new one. Still didnt solve the problem. Then when I tested the speeds I noticed that the speeds I was getting was the same as the 4G speeds I was getting when standing outside. So it seems it is not hardware faults at play here. But there are still things I dont understand.聽

1. How can 4G speeds possibly be so bad (5-10 mbps) when I stand outside?!?聽

2. When download speeds were good and I ran speedtests my upload was horrific. It seems that it locked to 2 mbps but when the download speeds became trash again the upload speeds went up to about 13 mbps at max.聽

3. How can I one second have really good speeds (60-70 mbps) and literally 5 seconds after I have those bad speeds again?! To me it seems so weird. Sometimes it helped briefly to restart the router but never permanently.聽

I know these questions might be very 'unanswerable' so to speak, but maybe someone has an explanation. Thanks聽
