Budget (including currency): $1,000-$1,500

Country: U.S.

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Editing and color grading 4k footage in Da Vinci Resolve, and Gaming.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Existing Parts:
Keeping:
Zotac Ctx970 4GB

WD Blue 1 TB
Samsung Evo 250gb
Upgrading:
AMDFX-8370 Processor
Gigabyte motherboard ch-78LMT-USB3
2 ddr 2 8gb
Corsair Case

I am planning on upgrading my 6 year old pc next month in order to improve overall performance and simply get something that doesn't slug along. As I listed I plan on keeping the above parts and want to upgrade pretty much everything down the line. As I said I built this PC a long time ago so I am not too familiar with building, parts, specs, etc. So I figured going to this forum would help me narrow down components I would need and make sure I am not being ripped off by a pre built website or accidentally buy the wrong thing. If anyone could help me narrow down some components for this upgrade that would be great!

You may or may not also need a new cooler, it depends on how modern yours is. It may only have mounts for AM3+, so I included one just in case.

Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS  ($159.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 3600Mhz CL16  ($93.99 @ B&H)
Case: Phanteks Eclipse P360A  ($79.99 @ Newegg)
Case Fans: 2x Phanteks PH-F120SK  ($9.99 each @ Newegg)

The 5600X should be more than enough for 4K editing in Resolve, and gaming. That's what I use mine for.
