Budget (including currency): 3500

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming w/ video settings on MAX!

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hi,

I'm building a new gaming PC.  I've built a number of machines back in the '90s, yes the 90's.  It was a whole lot easier back then, there weren't so many choices and it was hard to find documentation when you ran into issues.

I'm sure my parts list is a little overkill, but I'm an engineer and tend to over build.

Here is my list.  https://pcpartpicker.com/user/D8aMan/saved/#view=h3Nwgs

Thanks,

Mike (aka D8aMan)

3060 Ti ain't a bad choice, but considering how much you are paying for the rest of the build I feel like the GPU should be better.

One more thing:

CL19? Also it would be better to buy a matched set of 4 instead 2x2.
For the same price I'd go for CL16 matched set, like so:

Or if you absolutely must have RGB, for 50$ more:

Original case you chose was pretty bad.

Basically swapped the SSDS out for a GEN4 drive and a NVME drive.

Also swapped RAM for 32GB, but if 64 is necessary then feel free to add that back in

Swapped monitor to a Gigabyte one, much better, 170hz, 1440p ips and $200 cheaper.

With all money saved added a 3080

Cant go wrong on this one, though why would you have a firecuda 2tb when the 14tb hc530 costs 100$ more?

Thats the only thing confusing me, otherwise highly suggest this one

Thanks for your time.  I'm not sure I fully understand the details behind some of the changes, but that is why I posted my build up here.  I wanted to let the experts weigh in and make it the best it could be.

Is it OK to go with two Storage: Mushkin Pilot-E 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($229.99 @ Newegg) instead of one and remove Storage: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($159.97 @ Amazon) ?

Someone above mentioned having 4 sticks instead of 2, it is better to use all 4 slots instead of 2?  If that is the case, can I double Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory  ($154.99 @ Newegg)  to fill all 4 slots for a total of 32 GB RAM?

Thanks,

Mike
