The most current one, what else would it be? The first generation of Intel Core CPUs is borderline useless by now, so it can't be that. Every new generation brings improvements in terms of power draw, performance and performance per watt, so an older generation can't be better. Which means that as of now, the 11th Gen is the best.

Not really. My Dad's PC which has a i5-650 is totally usable in Both Ubuntu and Windows 10.

The first gen core series was the intel core solo from 2006. That is basically useless by now.

I think Core 2 Duo was the first. Since the Core 2 Duo was the first desktop chip in Core series. Core Solo and Core Duo are both Mobile chips.

True but still is the core series none the less.

All I did was tell the person that the i5 660 was not the first core gen (or cpu for the matter) just said the intel core solo was the first core series cpu ever. With the core 2 duo being the first desktop core cpu ever.

The original Core i7 for LGA1366 was a heck of a lot of fun. Legendary even. Core 2 on LGA775 was a heck of a lot of fun too.
