Seems BIOS related, maybe hardcore malware like a root kit

MarcWolfe

I don't think I've gotten a year of no problems with this PC. Lately left click doesn't work unless I first press ctrl+alt+delete, then escape. The cursor will move, but It won't even highlight taskbar icons until I perform the previously mentioned button sequence. Happens majority of time upon a restart, and occassionally after system has been running, seems exaserbated by alt+tabbing. The big kicker is running into the problem with the Windows USB installer, about three clicks in and I have to press the same button sequence.

In short, WTF?

I should add that at about the same time, motherboard's audio quit completely, and WDM (Windows driver model) audio option in Voicemeeter is a garbled mess now.

I would love to know the specifications of the system.

Also try testing the CPU with Prime95 with the Small FFTs option for a hour.

Try testing the RAM with Memtest86.

Tell us if you get any errors while testing.
