My son has a Dell latitude and wants Java Minecraft he is 12 and has autism so he would play in creative. the laptop has the NVIDIA NVS 5200M would that be good enough to support the game?

Can you tell us the rest of the specification please? CPU, RAM.

it has the intel i5 and 16 gb ram with 1tb ssd

Definitely. That laptop has a 3rd gen CPU, and paired with that GPU it's more than enough to play Minecraft quite well. It shouldn't have any issues.

The CPU is more of an issue though, do you know what it is?

The latitude E6530 was the one with the NVS5200m, so with it also being an i5 it’s at least an ivy bridge dual core of some variety which would run Minecraft fine, even previous gen Sandy bridge i5’s with integrated HD3000 can get a playable experience out of Minecraft without dropping settings to nothing.

Not to mention the fact that those Latitudes were still built very well. I really like those machines.

A GPU is still needed for good performance, but either way the laptop OP has is more than enough.

That's a very weak gpu, but I'm sure it could handle Minecraft with no problems 😉
