Hey all, just re watching some old ltt vids while doing some cad work here in sunny Osaka, and I'm on the prepping for 10gigabit internet video 2 Jan 2019, at about 14 mins it's suggested by the man the myth the legend Linus himself about watercooling the entire server room. Did this idea go anywhere or is it in process? It would be a great multi part video. And as above it was suggested by Linus backed by Jake in the vid. 

 

Any thoughts?

Absolute logistics nightmare to do it on a "budget" and risk ruining thousands in computer components and delay video releases. Honestly I would much rather see LTT buy a Cray Mountain and use that

Yeah I get that but surely they have enough dummy components laying about to try it without actually deploying it just to see if it can be done, did that make sense?

Whole-room water cooling was, in the end, a dumb video series the first time, and I don't see a reason to believe a redux in a server room would be any better. 

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Was that the on in the old house with the copper pipes and huge iron radiator bolted to the roof outside? I remember that one hahaha good times. But yeah one giant loop would be a pain one loop per server would make more sense and be a bit more manageable than one huge one

The only reason I enjoyed that video series was the same reason people watch home renovation reality TV, it was entertaining as a disaster.

there is not really much to see if it can be done, sure as heck you can do it if you wanted to but its high risk low reward and server components happen to be one of the things they dont have a lot of lying around.

The Idea isn't realy that bad, but you need a central pump that can equlize the preasure needed when it's a change like connecting or disconnecting a system to the loop..

Actually you have industrial version of server water cooling made by Asetek (one of the major OEMs for lots of closed circuit water cooling systems).
