Recently I've been feeling like my computer is underperforming is games. I have a 8700k 3080 2x16gb 3200mhz ram and a 850w psu. I mainly play games in 1080p like csgo, valorant, and occasionally the casual story game and I have recently been feeling like my PC has been underperforming in almost all games I play with it. Any help would be appreciated because I am quite the noob with PC's

Welcome to the forums!!!

What are your CPU utilizations like??? Do you have XMP enabled in the BIOS to run the RAM modules at 3200MHz?

And also GPU?? Are you aiming for high FPS or eye candy (eye candy as in cranking up the graphics settings)?

My gpu usually sits in the mid to high 20% range and I aim aiming for high fps to take advantage of my 240hz monitor.

That's oddly unusual. Have you tried to reinstall your graphics drivers at all?? Use DDU to reinstall your graphics drivers.

In case you're wondering, DDU, or Display Driver Uninstaller, is a software that is used to completely remove your graphics card drivers to ensure any remnants typically left behind if you uninstall through Windows or the graphics driver. This will ensure that any previous drivers installed are completely removed and will not cause any issues.

Would a clean reinstall of windows count as doing this? Because 2 months ago I did a full reinstall of everything.

Well, at that time. yes. I don't know if you tried to uninstall and reinstall graphics drivers again in two months time. If you have GPU-Z installed, check while gaming, under the Settings tab, for PerfCap Reason and if there is anything there, to report back with them. Also, what are your CPU and GPU utilizations temperatures like?

Sorry for not understanding but while I am playing a game what should I be doing/looking for?

Sorry, I meant temperatures to make sure you're not thermal throttling, not utilizations. Are your temperatures hovering in the ~90oC area?

For the ddu process is it necessary to restart into safe mode while doing it?

I've always rebooted into safe mode, as it's recommended to do so.

So I just did the ddu and now should I install the newest drivers?

Yes, that sounds like a good plan. I'd reboot after installing and seeing if anything changes.

"I feel like my PC is underperforming" is not enough information for proper analysis of your problem here. A quick google of it shows me that a build like that should run in the realm of 498 FPS for CS: GO on ultra graphics settings.

What are your FPS? Are you having other symptoms? You should be able to monitor your FPS through an in game option or through your graphics card drivers using Shadowplay. Press Alt+Z, hit the settings gear, go HUD Layout, FPS and pick where you want your FPS counter to use Shadowplay. Let's start there.

Happy to help.

Sorry I haven't been able to respond I was at work. My fps during csgo in a game is usually sitting between 270-310 on average. And in valorant in a deathmatch lobby around 210-250 fps.
