Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):  I am confused on how cpus work with motherboards I just want to make sure the ones I choose are compatible with each other:

Yes, the B550 A-Pro is compatible and will support the 3700X. 

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

 

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad. 

 

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

 

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

They are. But for pure gaming a 5600x is far better.

 

As far as cpu and motherboard this is the list you follow and only continue down if the answer is yes:

 

1. Are cpu and motherboard the SAME socket (as in will it physically fit)?

2. Does the chipset (in this case b550) support the cpu?

3. Does the CPU SUPPORT LIST on the boards WEBSITE list my cpu as COMPATIBLE?

 

If the answer is no anywhere it will not work. This board does support the 3700x.

Alright so just to double check when it says like ryzen 7 does that just mean the gen and the 3700 is the series. I’ll look in to that 5600 also
