Hello guys I really need you're help!

For the first time in my life I got a second monitor. This is for work and I only need it at 09:00 and 15:30 during the day. For the rest of the day I really don't need 2 monitors. Since getting the second monitor gaming CS:GO and other games has been unberable. The mouse just feels laggy and slow. I have good framerates (between 200-300), however it doesn't feel like that at all. I was wondering if there was any software or settings that makes it possible to turn of all power and datausage to the second monitor when gaming.  Because when I only had 1 monitor everything was fine, and now when I have 2 everything feels horrible when playing games. I don't play on a native reselution ingame, I play on 4:3 1280x960 ingame if that makes any difference. Sorry in advance if the answer is super obvious, but unfortunately I suck at tech.

Thanks!

My setup:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

WDC WDS250G2B0B-00YS70 Disk

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU 4.00GHz

For gam,ing: AOC 2460G4

For work: Samsung Odyssey C27JG56 27"

Well, you can pull the power plug on the 2nd monitor...

Will that help? If the monitor is still plugged to the computer, but I only pull the power plug on the second monitor?

Yes, Windows will no longer detect that you have a second monitor plugged in, and things should behave as normal.

I mean, yeah, one of the easy answers is to just unplug it, but that doesn't really solve the problem. Why exactly are you not playing on native resolution and aspect ratio? Because if you plug in both monitors (both of which are 1080p), this could have an impact in how the OS interprets mouse inputs whenever you're running one of the monitors at something other than native resolution.

It's because of framerate, as you can see I don't have the best PC. Furthermore I have been playing CS for several years and gotten used to 1280x960 4:3.

You said yourself that your framerate is between 200-300 fps. Your monitor runs at a max of 144Hz. You're not really benefiting all that much from all those frames you aren't seeing even if the most current frame being delivered is technically a hair more current than if the framerate were lower. Not to mention that if you want a competitive advantage, a 16:9 aspect ratio literally shows you more of the game itself on the horizontal axis, making you aware of things in your peripheral vision earlier. Not a trade-off worth having in my opinion.

I'm not trying to be condescending here when I say you should maybe adapt to playing at a native resolution, which might make the issue disappear so that you don't have to reach around the monitor every time you want to play the game, but sometimes, sticking to "your way of doing things" for the sake of not having to get used to something new (which usually doesn't take long) is the problem.

In my case, pulling the power plug, windows still thinks I'm connected to the monitor, I  always pull the HDMI cable and it goes to single display

First of all, thank you for taking time and writing such a nice response ❤️ If I understand you correct, will the problem go away if I play a 16:9 aspect ratio?

So you wanna to remove your display or nothing?

I would like to be able to play CS:GO in a 4:3 1280x960 res without  wierd mouse tracking and lag. I don't need the second monitor when I play games, only when I work.

Nothing. I want the other monitor to be "disabled". Because now when I play there is mouse stuttering and everything feels laggy, even though I have 200-300 frames.

So power off your monitor.
But if you telling that you getting a lot frames so,
1 hz = 1 fps
30 hz = 30 fps
60 hz = 60 fps
140 hz = 140 fps
No matter are if telling more frames than your pc have hz.

I have tried powering off the monitor. But it feels laggy still. The mouse movement and everything feels totally wrong.

So you need to clean mice red pointer (it can be no color)

You are not really getting the point here. I was playing on one monitor and everything was fine. Then I added another monitor and everything changed on my gaming monitor and I am not using my second monitor while gaming.

I can't promise that the problem will go away, but I would certainly try playing at 1920x1080 to test out if it does. If the problem persists, you can still always go back to your previous resolution. And if all else fails, you'll just have to live with pulling the plug every time you want to play.
