Trouble installing Linux Mint

Hey everyone, i'm having some trouble installing Linux Mint. Everything is working fine until i have to reboot the system to finish the installation. When rebooting a bunch of distorted lines appear on screen and nothing happens. When i force a shutdown and try to boot again i get the error message 'End kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs unknown-block' and it's unable to boot. I'm not very experienced with Linux and have no idea what to do. I already tried installing it a second time and got the same issue. Help would be very much appreciated.

*full* system specs of your hardware, and BIOS settings related to SATA ports and boot, please
