The 3700X is not a good option by 2021 standards, especially for gaming. The 5600X is ~20% faster and roughly the same price.

Next step from here would be to upgrade from that 1650 when GPU prices come down in late 2022. 🤞

Sticking with AMD, this is what I'd recommend:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/FydbPV

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X   ($399.25 @ Vuugo)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition   ($44.50 @ Vuugo)
Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS   ($188.10 @ Vuugo)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 3600Mhz CL16  ($118.75 @ Vuugo)
Case: Phanteks Eclipse P360A   ($89.99 @ Canada Computers)
Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS Gold 650 W 80+ Gold   ($89.75 @ Vuugo)
Case Fans: 2x Phanteks PH-F120SK   ($14.99 each @ Canada Computers)

Total: $960.32

There is not much point in getting too detailed if your purchase is a year away. By this time next year almost everything will be different.

ca.pcpartpicker.com is a great site for assembling a build list and comparing prices. I believe all of the Canadian online merchants are available through the site.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

In 1 year, everyone will be on a new socket and using DDR5. That basically makes anything we'd recommend here-and-now irrelevant.

Thank you, I was hesitant about using this forums, the response was fast and it was helpful.
