First Build, finding the right and compatible components

belgie.ni

Budget (including currency): 1500 CHF

Country: Switzerland

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: School and any type of game, from indie to tripleA

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

For prices you can check https://www.digitec.ch/en    https://www.microspot.ch/fr   https://www.toppreise.ch/fr

First time build

These are the components I'm thinking of getting:

-AMD Ryzen 5 5600X  (CPU)

-ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WI-FI  (MoBo)

-G.Skill Trident Z Neo (F4-3600C18D-16GTZN)  (RAM)

-Samsung 970 EVO Plus  (M.2 SSD)

-Seagate Barracuds (2TB, 2.5")  (HDD)

-Corsair RM750 *2019* (750W)  (PSU)

-Corsair 5000D Airflow  (Case)

-GPU: thinking of getting RTX3060ti but waiting for prices to drop

Already have a monitor and peripherals

Thanks for the help ^^

There’s a decent chance ddr5 stuff will be out by the time the electronics crunch totally ends, in which case all the hardware will be a generation down. Switzerland isn’t EU, and there’s no pcpartpicker option for Switzerland which makes things harder. It seems pretty decent.  You might be able to cheap out a bit on the SSD though you’d then have to buy an even faster one later.  Sticking with the stock cooler could be a good move for a 5600. It was for the 3600. Ive got no data for the 5600 though. One of the new 6 or 8core apus might be a better move as then you can actually use the thing with no other gpu. 5600 is like an intel f chip.  No gpu at all.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

The Strix B550-F motherboard does not have a usb-c header for the case front panel usb-c port. The Strix B550-E does have a header for the front panel usb-c port. The MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk also has the required header.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

What does the DDR5 bring? What parts will have to be upgraded in order to use DDR5? ans when do you think that the electronic crunch will be out?

and thanks for the info

DDR5 offers much higher data rates, lower overall power consumption, much higher density per stick. It will most likely requre a new motherboard and CPU to work, however, since theres no release for DDR5 and since its going to have a high price at release, its not worth waiting if you just want a system now. GPU shortages are expected to last until at least the end of 2021 and possibly even to mid/end 2022. If you want a cheap GPU, your best bet is probably getting a decent prebuilt system.

-Get a cheaper MOBO, maybe the B550-A-PRO. If you need WiFi the MPG is a pretty good option.

-id get cheaper RAM

-Get a cheaper SSD, you don’t need that 970 evo. Get a SN550, A2000, or A80, they are a lot better value and are much cheaper.

maybe downgrade to a 4000d airflow? (5000d is fine tho)

with all the savings you can fit a 3070 - 3080

geometry is hard
b550 > x570

Agree completely, would only add the A2000 is probably the best choice of the ssds.
As for the RAM 3600cl18 is what i would go for, albeit not the neos if you don't care how it looks.

Eh. The Silicon power A80 is a bit faster.
Also 3200 CL16 and 3600 CL18 are basically the same

would you have suggestion for better ram? And thanks for the suggestion of the A80, it's way cheaper for the same speeds as the samsung

Any decent kit that is 3200 CL16 will be fine. Go with whatever looks good that isn’t that expensive.
