i am installing my hyper 212 evo but having a hard time the first screw i start on makes it hard to get the opposite side screwed in i ended up forcing it and i ended up smearing the thermal paste all over the cpu, should i clean the cpu off and start over again? or is it ok i am using artic silver for thermal paste

Clean it off and tighten in a cross pattern slowly dont tighten one side all the way while leaving the other side loose

I would definitely clean it off.

 

 

As was said, clean it off, and be careful.

Yes use the rubbing alcohol. TP alone would not get the CPU cleen enough

The alcohol gets rid of the adhesion to the CPU.

It's necessary.

If you can't get rubbing alcohol just use nail varnish remover as it's much easier to find.
