Crucial P2 vs WD Blue SN550 (SanDisk Ultra 3D)

Both are 500 GB. What do you guys think? I think both are pretty similar and P2 is a bit more affordable.

The SN550 is easily the better drive. It outperforms the P2 in virtually every metric. The cost difference would need to be significant (not just a few bucks) to warrant choosing the P2 over the SN550.

It's largely a clone, but things like NAND flash and the controller can be swapped without changing the physical appearance of the drive dramatically. I'm not aware of any direct comparison done between the two to say for sure that they are the exact same drive. Personally, I'd go with the WD because it's a known quantity, but you're probably fine either way.

The SanDisk Ultra 3D is a clone of the WD Blue 3D, which is a SATA drive (although it does come in M.2). The NVMe WD Blue is the SN550.

 

The P2 originally came with TLC but has migrated to QLC in some cases. Either way, it's DRAM-less. The SN550 in general is faster at the same price.
